Organisers of the South Tyneside International Magic Festival, which returns to the North East in March, have added mentalist Markus Beldig and card-expert Christian Schenk to the event’s line-up.

Mindreader Markus, dubbed ‘the master of the sixth sense’, will be bewitching audiences at the festival’s first Gala Show at the Customs House, South Shields on Friday, March 9th. The three-day magic convention will offer professional magicians and dedicated magic fans the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops, lectures and masterclasses featuring leading magicians from around the globe.

The Magicians returns, this year, with a show-stopping live format and viewer vote, with presenter Darren McMullen.

The first show of six sees magicians Barry and Stuart paired with stars of Outnumbered, Tyger Drew-Honey and Daniel Roche; World Champion of Magic, Latimer, with Strictly Come Dancing’s Flavia Cacace; and comedy magician Pete Firman, joined by Coronation Street and Boyzone’s Keith Duffy.

With more daring, dangerous and mind-blowing magic than ever before, each act performs four tricks – and two are live, so anything could happen. The first show includes a jaw-dropping escape, a spectacular laser routine and an astonishing live stage illusion.

The Magicians will air live on Saturday 7th January 2012 at 6.35pm on BBC 1.

With some of the best magicians in the country lined up for The Magic Circle Christmas Show it is hardly surprising that tickets have completely sold out! Following the huge demand for show,  an extra night of magical entertainment has now been scheduled. Christmas Close-Up at the Circle will star four of The Magic Circle’s finest magicians. The Session (January 14th & 15th, Cheltenham) is the UK’s only dedicated close-up magic convention and two new exciting acts have just been announced: John Archer and Romanian magician Alex Pandrea.

John Archer will be giving a brand new talk on comedy magic and sleight of hand magician Alex Pandrea will be illustrating some of the card technique that has gained him a worldwide reputation. They join, Chris Kenner, Dani DaOrtiz, Kainoa Harbottle, Wayne Hounchin and Michael Vincent for a weekend of serious close-up magic.

This years International Magic Convention and London Festival of Magic (14th – 20th November) was a huge success, with the themed festival days leading perfectly into the main magic convention itself. There was a real buzz about the whole event this year, with some spectacular magic on display.

The convention is organised by the MacMillan family, with events, including the Gala Show, booked and organised by Noel Britten, who we would like to thank for a job well done!
